Ammonium carbonate
[Appearance] White or colorless semi transparent crystalline flakes or powder. There is an ammonia smell, which gradually turns into ammonium bicarbonate when exposed to air. When heated to 550 ℃, it decomposes into ammonia and carbon dioxide. Soluble in water, but decomposes in hot water (70 ℃), insoluble in concentrated ammonia and ethanol.
[Purpose] Used as an analytical reagent. Used for carbonate preparation, fermentation, and wool defatting. It is also used for drop analysis of radium, lithium, thorium, and other substances.
